Founded in March 2024, our club was born from a collective of students and alumni from ETH and UZH, driven by a common desire to challenge ourselves in the arena of competition.
The success of several of our members in recent competitions led us to create the club to facilitate greater participation by our students and to foster a culture of competitive excellence.
As metal sharpens metal, so one man sharpens another, we embrace competition as a mean of personal growth, pushing the boundaries of our abilities to become stronger judokas.
The founders of the club
The name 'Saru Senshi' is Japanese and translates as 'Monkey Fighters'. We chose this name because most of us started our judo journey late and, according to our coaches, we sometimes fight like monkeys: strong and fierce, but not yet with perfect technique.
We also wanted to follow the American tradition of having an animal in our logo and as maskot, and since monkeys are also part of Japanese culture, they seemed like a perfect choice.
