Cantonal tournaments
Cantonal Championships
Suitable for beginners and lower belts, who have never been to a tournament before. You have the opportunity to fight people with similar level and experience as yours.
Cantonal competitions may be restricted to the place of club registration. We recommend to have a look at the different tournament options within Zurich. If you are interested in a particular one outside of Zurich, check for participation restrictions first or talk to the board / trainer about your options.
National competitions
Ranking 500
Suitables for beginners. The minimum requirement is a yellow or orange belt.
They usually operate on a pool system, which offers several chances to get on the mat.
Ranking 1000
Suitable for people with some R500 experience, as there will be more experienced judoka on the mat from all over Switzerland. They usually use a knockout system, so there is a higher chance of losing early and being eliminated.
There is an informal ranking among the different R1000s. The best thing is to ask our current black belts after class or our trainers which R1000 they would suggest.
Team Competition
You can also compete as part of a team for us or another club.
However, this often requires doubles and many different weight classes within the team.
We do not recommend this for beginners, as the chances of being able to fight in certain weight classes are pretty slim.
It can be a nice experience to be part of a group and to get to know other judokas.
